James (Jim) Perrett died on Mt Blanc in September 1986 with his best friend David Howie. Both were undergraduates at Cambridge University at the time.

James was studying medicine and was determined to work in the developing world once he qualified. 

​

The James Perrett Memorial Fund was set up in memory of James and is housed within AACT. Through grants and scholarships the fund supports medical students in pursuit of their studies.
